In 1906, the Amboseli was set aside as a southern reserve for the Maasai until 1948 when it was returned to local control as a game reserve. In 1974 the park was gazetted as a National Park to protect the core of this unique ecosystem. The park was later declared a UNESCO site in the year.’ Amboseli National Park is deemed to be a popular tour destination with a statistic being done in the year 2006 suggesting that over 120,000 people visited the park in that year alone. The Amboseli is famous for its incredible view of Mt Kilimanjaro especially from the observation hill and its vast elephant herds easily spotted while visiting the park.Fun Fact: there lived an elephant in the park named Tim which was believed to be over 50 years old and had iconic tusks which would touch the ground when the elephant was in its standing position, sadly it passed away in the year 2020. The park is said to have commenced early in the 50s as a bird viewing area and also a sport shooting area of birds. The park is also known as Bird Watchers Paradise due to the abundance of bird species that migrate from all over the globe. To be a little bit precise over 400 species. The park is in Nakuru City, found in the southern part of Nakuru City.
To be brief, Nakuru City is Kenya’s fourth-largest settlement area. The vegetation in the park can be well described to be unique comprising of marshes, acacia woodlands, euphorbia forest and bushy grasslands.
